LINCOLN CENTER…The Cultural Mecca Of The World!

with my mom!

The Upper West Side, Lincoln Center to be exact is bustling with the arts and nightlife; from up and coming artists to world famous and preeminent performers, this paradise for city dwellers has a plethora to offer and so rich in history.

The cultural buildings were designed by highly renowned architects Philip Johnson, Wallace Harrison, Gordon Bunshaft, and Eero Saarinen.

Jerome Robbins iconic West Side Story, which originally came out on October 18th in 1961 and garnered 11 Academy Awards, about two rival gangs is important and meaningful because it is an artistic accomplishment and is responsible for some significant changes in the concept of the filmed musical…it is significant because of its melding of jazz, avante-garde Broadway, and Latin American music styles, predating the fusion movement by ten years. It was filmed among the demolition and rubble of the first construction of Lincoln Center. 2020 will see Steven Spielberg remake the legendary movie/drama as well.

My own Mother, who has lived in Manhattan for over thirty years and in Lincoln Center for several years, finds great, rich artistic living here. The Ballet is among one of her many passions and favorites as is dining out as this picture of her and I outside the heralded PJ. Clarkes on West 63rd Street indicates recently. Very easily and conveniently accessible from New Rochelle and Southern Westchester by Metro North train, Lincoln Center…the cultural icon of the world awaits you!

Upcoming at The New York City Ballet: The Nutcracker on Sunday, December 15 at The David H. Koch Theater. Also, The Metropolitan Opera House features La Nozze Di Figaro on Saturday December 14th. And don’t forget to get your great tickets at David Geffen Hall as the New York Philharmonic presents Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone in concert on December 13th and 14th. Also there, Harry Bicket and Louise Adler performing Handels Messiah on December 17th! A fun and creative month of beautiful artistic events that comes to Lincoln Center once more!

NEW ROCHELLE DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT – The City Has Come Alive!

The Sleeping Giant Has Awakened.

Matt inside The Printhouse

Once dormant and bare downtown New Rochelle will look quite different soon… and it already has to be precise. The city on the sound and home of the Dick Van Dyke Show has had many luminaries reside here such as Yankee legend  Mariano Rivera, TV stars Bob Denver, and Jay Leno, music greats Don McLean and Wynton Marsalis and more. It is also the very suburban city which once featured historic Mayors such as Stanley W. Church, Alvin Ruskin, Frank Garito, Vinny Rippa, Len Paduano and Tim Idoni. And, of course, years ago long before developers descended on New Rochelle, we were once the home of Bloomingdales, Arnold Constable and Macy’s.

Now, the city of roughly 80,000 residents is undergoing a massive real estate renewal. Certainly, the keen vision of key city officials such as gifted Mayor Noam Bramson, highly regarded and well thought of Commissioner Of Development, Luiz Aragon, and City Manager extraordinaire Chuck Strome have attracted major interest in our fine city.

High profile developers have converged on New Rochelle putting up phenomenal and luxurious high rise rental and condo residential buildings hoping to attract savvy millennials and more. It was done successfully in White Plains, Stamford, and other fine cities….now New Rochelle is seeing it’s big real estate transformation. But this is not the first time as you will recall; real estate titan Louis Cappelli came into New Rochelle on fire with his brilliant vision and built the immense 190 million dollar New Roc City, the marvelous Lofts At New Roc and the magnificent 40 story Trump Plaza. Mr. Cappelli is back in our growing city yet again with his impressive and handsome 14 story, 114 unit project billed as The Standard. The actual site has celebrated history; it is once where the famed Standard Star Newspaper was located. The Standard is near completion and will boast 13 eye catching studio homes, 92 one bedroom apartments and 7 two bedroom residences. As well as 4,000 square ft of prime retail space. Mr. Cappelli believes in New Rochelle and he has raised the real estate standard yet again.

More upscale and very worthy New Rochelle development comes in the form of abundant and epic RXR Realty and their breathtaking 360 Huguenot Building, brimming with high quality, sophisticated amenities and actual apartments which are able to be defined only in their own terms. Some of the coziest and very tastefully designed units I’ve seen in years, right down to the high grade kitchen appliances and spacious living space. Scott Rechler and his uber talented RXR associates have proven their strong commitment to New Rochelle and the company’s steadfast support of our city is instantly recognizable. Many admirers of this great building , and I am one of them, have commented that the apartments have a Fifth Avenue sophistication and appeal to them. 360 Huguenot raises the bar for upscale living in New Rochelle. Also making waves here in our city is Megalith Capital Management and their stunning The Printhouse offering, a striking 6 story, 71 unit entity. The Printhouse features an appealing rooftop deck, state-of -the-art fitness center, charming resident lounge and convenient covered surface parking. From the minute you enter their welcoming, stylish lobby you just know this is exceptional upscale living. But this is just the tip of the real estate iceberg. I, like so many, believe all this development is good for our burgeoning city; it will lead to more appropriate high end housing, more jobs, retail and more. The vision and groundwork has been laid for New Rochelle’s real estate future…and so let it be known that the future is here and it looks pretty remarkably impressive! Are you ready to find the home of your dreams?

Happy Holidays from Clare and myself. Clare is my official photographer!
