As someone who loves history (and as someone who came from a country that thrived on history – England), I always like to see who actually lived in a home previously… I have many times encountered potential buyers who adhere to Feng Shui when buying a home, and they too ask who lived in the home previously. In preparing to market 65 Overlook Circle, New Rochelle, I decided to research the home. I visited the New Rochelle Public Library (which has recently had a wonderful transformation in its entrance way), and looked up the home in the Eli Doctorow local History Room (yes, another famous former resident of New Rochelle).
I came across a photo of the home featured in a book from 1938. Then in googling the home owner’s name, I found a Doctor Evans who had resided at that home. Perhaps it was Mr. Williams’ son who had attended Princeton, became a doctor who specialized in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and then who married a doctor who had attended the University of Pennsylvania. In 1942 he joined the navy . What does it tell me? The home was enjoyed by a family who excelled, and I think quite representative of a wonderful city and area in which to reside.
I have the privilege in being able to market this wonderful home. The current owners have lived there for many happy years, and it is their time to pass on the keys, and beautiful property to another home owner.
“As the current owner entered the home, she knew that THIS was the home for her. With its timeless elegance, architectural splendor throughout, the views of both the Sound and the home’s putting green and tennis court, the home reflected charm, warmth, beauty and yet wasn’t ostentatious. Gracious, spacious and enchanting. It spoke to her, and let this magnificent gem speak to you! The street was named Overlook Circle as it is just 1 1/2 miles from the Sound and yet overlooks all it encompasses, & this 8817 sq. ft. magnificent Georgian Colonial gated mini estate sited on 1.33 lush, landscaped acres, offers 7 bedrooms, 5.2 bathrooms and 8 fireplaces. The regal entrance foyer with its majestic chandelier welcomes you to this well proportioned, sunny home with its stately rooms perfect for large gatherings or small affairs. High ceilings, closet space in abundance, and even a dumb waiter, a gym, and there is an apartment & bathroom above the Carriage house too! Just 30 minutes to New York City. :
