The Humane Society of Westchester has long been a special place for me and my family. As a Realtor, I work 7 days a week, and yet love animals so how could I assist in some way? I used to drop off a check after each sale made was one way, and then I volunteered there on holidays and snow days so the staff would hopefully be able to leave a little earlier in the day. I would help in feeding the dogs, and cleaning out their cages. A very small effort but I tried. It was through being a volunteer that I saw Binky! He had been at the (then) shelter for 3 months, had been found starving on the streets of New Rochelle, and they were doubtful he would live. He did, and we adopted him! SO funny, I was told that he barked a lot. No problem. When we took him home, he was so quiet. We figured they had been wrong. Well after a few weeks, we took him on a weekend trip to see my younger son, Brett play baseball. Oh my! Binky didn’t stop barking. Funny.
The New Rochelle shelter has now evolved into being the Humane Society of Westchester. It is a no kill shelter which I think we can all appreciate! I have long supported this shelter and will continue to do so! Our Binky passed away in 2024 and was 14 1/2 years old. We all still miss him. I loved him so that I even wrote a book about him entitled “It’s Okay to Walk in the Rain”. Binky hated the rain and the book was about with love and encouragement; he overcame that fear – a metaphor for children on how to overcome small anxieties.

On a WHIM (why not??), I recently entered a Top Host Competition with a $25,000 prize being offered. Oh my! Nothing ventured, nothing gained as they say, and while the lucky winner would receive the $25,000 price, the winner would also host 6 podcasts. Oh my! Of course, my award of $25,000 would be given to the Westchester Humane Society! A no brainer! My interests range from cooking, pets (I have 2 cats), attending concerts, K-Pop, K-dramas, C-Dramas, exercise, charities and humor! There is always so much to discuss!
At any rate, please vote for me and also consider making any donations to the Westchester Humane Society! A wonderful no kill shelter!
Westchester is great!
