Comedy Night benefitting the Center for Continuing Education was held on April 28th at Decadent Al’s in Mamaroneck. We had missed this fun event because of Covid so it was a much awaited event and a wonderful opportunity to go out with friends and associates to just relax.
I had never frequented Decadent Al’s which is located in a warehouse type setting, with bench style seating and so many vats of beer in the rear! Food is served there and a light repast was served that evening, sliders, quesadillas, chicken tenders and nachos. Of course, we were not there to dine but rather to raise money for the Center for Continuing education.
Ron Nobles, Mamaroneck High School teacher by day was the host for the evening! There were raffle sales and by all appearance it was fun evening for all.

Since I will be entering a new property this week in the area, I reached out to a friend and wonderful person, Margaret Chadwick, the President of the New Rochelle Heights Home Owners Association. I wanted to check the yearly dues which are mandatory and are still only $100!

I also wanted to ask what does a home owner receive for the membership? There will be the Spring Gala on April 1st, a virtual wine tasting event on April 9th, 5-7 p.m. “Taste the Goodness” via Zoom! The virtual experience will be led by Deborah Rust, Senior Wine Consultant at Vintage Wine Estates. On July 31st. the Annual General Meeting, and on September 11th, the Fall Conference. Don’t forget the wonderful red clay tennis courts too! Membership is approximately $300 a year! Wow!
The Historic Rochelle Heights is so close to the vibrant downtown, just 30 minutes from New York City and the neighbors are simply grand!

The New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce has been very busy! The representatives organized a wonderful event for local businesses, the Business Council and Realtors alike at The VIP Country Club in New Rochelle this past Thursday, March 17th from 6-8 p.m.
The hosts, Mr. Thomas Esposito, General Manager, and Mr. Vinston Joy, Assistant General Manager were most gracious and served simply delicious cuisine ranging from cheeses, fruits, fish, chicken, medallions of beef , vegetables, and wine and beer (and tea and coffee of course too!).

It was a wonderful event, and the hosts wanted to highlight their wonderful rooms/venues that are available for small or large gatherings (50-500 people), or joint gatherings (perhaps at the Holiday time!), and I wanted to post this blog as a thank you and appreciation to them !

New Rochelle is GREAT!
As I was driving around on appointments this week, I came across some visitors to my area! They were obviously seeking a beautiful home in New Rochelle and decided to dine al fresco!
New Rochelle is a wonderful city in which to reside. Come and visit. You will want to stay!
New Rochelle is GREAT!
Mr. Paul Vacca, the Commissioner of Buildings for the City of New Rochelle recently visited our office to update us on the 36 new buildings that have either been built, in the process of being built or that in various stages of approval, etc.
It was a wonderful and most impressive meeting, and I would strongly suggest you pop onto our City of New Rochelle portal to see exactly what is happening within our city, and how to move here is a great choice!
Below is a slideshow of just a few of the projects Mr. Vacca spoke so eloquently about!

My son and I popped into the “Hook and Reel Cajun Restaurant” Restaurant last night for supper, and we were not disappointed. There was a DJ (advertised for Fridays and Saturdays), and the restaurant was quite busy!
We started with oysters, and then ordered a mussels, snow crab legs and crawfish boil with the spicy Cajun seasoning and all were great. Unfortunately, I didn’t take a photo of the ‘boil’ as we were too busy eating!
I noticed there are several locations, but we visited the Yonkers location located at 2375 Central Park Avenue.

The more we get to know people, the more we like and admire them! Such was the case with regards to Sonya Cronin and Carey Federspiel, fellow Real estate agents within my great Larchmont office!

Sonya is half Ukrainian and still has family living in the Western part of the country. Her mom’s family had fled the country in World War 11, and in wanting to help the people of Ukraine, Sonya and Carey, and their children organized a bake sale on March 6th to raise money for the Ukrainian refugees.

As you can see from the photos, so many baked goods were donated and approximately $7500 was raised from this worthwhile great event. It was held at the St. Augustine’s Church on the corner of Cherry & Larchmont Avenues, and while it rained it didn’t hinder the event.
Sonya also listed three charities below as another way to make a donation! As Sonya wrote, every dollar counts!

Westchester is great!
When we bought our home in 1993, being new to real estate, we never even thought to look up into the attic prior to closing on the home. Too gentile, didn’t wish to pry, and too naive! Obviously, we would be checking everything now as well we or anyone should.
At any rate, the previous owner shad left items here and there. For instance, I found a Hermes riding crop in a closet, which we returned to them as follows. While we were renovating, a neighbor would see the past owner’s children drive slowly by the house many times. She kindly gave me their phone number, and once we had renovated the kitchen, we called them and invited them over one evening for dessert and drinks. They were thrilled to see the house again, and I then gave to them the riding crop as a memory.
My youngest son was only a few months old when we had moved, and so between the renovating, and taking care of my 3 children, it wasn’t until a year or so later did I even venture into the attic with the purpose of cleaning it out. I found wrapped in old newspapers dating back to 1943 and old Kilim rug. I love antiques and was thrilled. I sent it to a rug restoration company, but it would have cost far more than the rug was worth to be restored as it was so full of moth holes.
A friend found a safe in her home, and when she had it opened, found some gold within. That was a find!
Have you ever found anything interesting in your attic?
New Rochelle is GREAT!
My family loves Indian food. Being a Brit, we would always go to an Indian Restaurant when given a choice. The spices, different layers of flavor just speak for themselves not to mention how healthy the ingredients are for you such as turmeric, cumin, garlic, onions, etc.
There are so many great restaurants in our area, and one great restaurant is the Rani Mahal Restaurant in Mamaroneck.

The Mulligatawny soup (lentils, herbs and spices)was so flavorful and delicious, as was the Lamb Masala Dosa, and the Dhaba Medley (Chicken, lamb and shrimp) cooked first in a Tandoori oven, and then added with ginger, curry leaves, spices.
Located at 327 Mamaroneck Ave, Mamaroneck, NY 10543. Pop in and visit – you will love it!
