Today’s Fifteenth Annual New Rochelle House Tour was an unbridled success from the start to the finish with co-chairs Berdie Stein and Maria Prorok at the helm. So much time and dedication went into the event, and there was great praise for all involved. From the subtle green and white color scheme which was carried over onto the Auction Baskets, to the balloons, and to the gift totes given to all who wished to view the five homes featured this year.
Lunch boxes were purchased through Stanz in Larchmont (who offered a great price for a boxed lunch that was hard to turn down), and everyone raved over the choice of vegetarian sandwiches or chicken salad sandwiches, vegetable chips, fresh fruit, a delicious brownie, all delicately wrapped, and served with cooling lemonade or water. The view of the Long Island Sound was the perfect back-drop at Five Island Park in New Rochelle where the patrons first dined, and obtained the tour information, and the opportunity to purchase the raffle tickets. Unfortunately, no photography was allowed on the tour, and so the photos here are from the wonderful reception held after the event. The Montefiore Hospital provided the plentiful cocktail repast of stuffed mushroom caps, coconut shrimp, lamb chops, bacon wrapped water chestnuts, and more.. which was served elegantly with wines and sodas..
Mayor Bramson was on the tour, and at the reception, as was Barry Fertel, and I heard from Len Stein, the event’s Public Relations person how he was able to advertise the event through the Journal News by having them feature some choice photos in a three page spread from one of the beautiful homes featured on the tour. Over 225 tickets were sold, and over $25000 raised, and all benefiting a worthy cause “The Pediatric Emergency Services at Montefiore New Rochelle”. Through the co-chairs and Board Members’ efforts, it was made apparent that New Rochelle is vital, concerned , and a community that is always willing to become involved.
New Rochelle is GREAT
