July 27th, 2019 marked the 27th year of this wonderful Swim Across America event. So many participants helping to raise money towards fighting cancer. As of writing this post $1,054,318 has been raised to-date.
“Proceeds from the swims will support immunotherapy research at the Swim Across America Laboratory at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, pediatric oncology research at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York-Presbyterian and patient services with Cancer Support Team.”
Held at the Larchmont Yacht Club, the volunteers arrived from 4 am onward. I was asked to arrive at 5 so I was more fortunate! It was wonderful to see the sun rise, and to be involved of so much caring, sharing and fun! Swimmers of all ages (the youngest swimming in a pool ), and in the Long Island Sound with kayakers shepherding them in case someone needs assistance.
“Since 1987, SAA has granted over $80 million through 20 experiential open water swimming fundraising events and over 100 pool swim fundraisers.”
What can I say.
Larchmont is GREAT!
