Oh my goodness! What did I just write! Well, the English Channel is approximately 21 miles if you were to swim from Dover to Cap Gris Nez, in France. However, if you owned an Endless Pool ® which is a resistance pool allowing you to swim at the speed and distance of your choice you could swim those 21 miles!… Just imagine!  You would not have to worry about the awful jellyfish, or the paparazzi interrupting your individual challenge (and you could also make a few stops and resume the swim with no -one calling foul.

Time for the Lavender Sachets!

DSC04103DSC04098Each year, I  lovingly cultivate my lavender plants and Russian Sage, and harvest when in bloom. The fragrance of the plant permeates throughout the house, and when the seeds have dried out, I then separate them from the stems, add some additional lavender oil, and package for my customers and clients (and friends of course) alike.   New Rochelle is GREAT!

Paine to Pain Half Marathon, September 21st, 2014

While I was scheduled to be in the office to help out, I HAD to first pop over to the “Paine to Pain” Half Marathon, and cheer on the starters! Organized (brilliantly) and run by NewRo Runners each year, it never fails to be a success. I also heard mention that this was the largest turnout ever.

SoWE Food & Wine Festival 2014

Oh if  only there was more time! I  had scheduled an open house for clients that afternoon, and so had not realized the treat I would be missing had I stayed at the 2014 SoWe (Southern Westchester) Food & Wine Festival. It was held in Mamaroneck Harbor on Saturday, September 20th ( in Scarsdale on the 21st),  but I did have the opportunity to help set up our booth, and stay from 10 -12 noon or so.. At the stroke of noon, I meandered around the stalls, and caught sight of  Graham Elliot conducting a food presentation (Kung Pao Chicken). Houlihan Lawrence was a sponsor, and I understand the afternoon crowd was huge so a great success!

Westchester is GREAT!

Paws for a Heart Gala – September 18th, 2014

Thursday, September 18th marked the New Rochelle Humane Society
“Paws for a Heart Gala” benefitting the ‘help heal’ fund, and honoring Carlette M. Allen and David McCabe. The Gala MC was Susan Richard, Midday News Anchor at 1010 WINS and popular actress!

The New Rochelle Humane Society is a no-kill shelter, and is constantly faced with funding issues. It is an organization that “is dedicated to promoting human/animal bond through the compassionate care and treatment of animals throughout the communities” that it serves in Westchester County and beyond.

Beechmont Neighborhood Association – Yearly Meeting 9/21/2014

fountains beechmont lakeThe Beechmont area is beautiful in appearance. We all are aware of that,  but it is also a wonderful area in which to reside. The Beechmont area offers a Neighborhood Association to its residents,  and their yearly general meeting and social event is being held tomorrow from 3-5 p.m. at Spellman Hall at Iona College.
” The Beechmont Association’s Appreciation Award  will be presented to Fred Wiener, Chair of the Beechmont Lake Committee, Dr. Joseph Nyre, President of Iona College, and Dr. Joseph Stabile , Professor of Biology at Iona College, for their contributions in beautifying Beechmont.”
The event is free to all residents, and Beechmont home owners are prompted to remind their immediate neighbors in th event they never received the invitation. Wine, cheese and Hors D’oeuvres wil also be served at this wonderful community event.

Paws for a Heart Fund Raising Gala tonight 9/18/2014

The Paws for a Heart Gala is tonight at the Glen Harbour Club in New Rochelle.  Commencing at 6:30 p.m. – it will be a wonderful celebration of this great no kill shelter, and what it does on a daily basis for its little furry (and sometimes hairless) friends  jus to raise awareness and some much needed funds. Only 50% of their required expenses are financed through the various towns and villages the New Rochelle Humane Society represents. The balance  is through fund-raising. Scan0096

Ancestry Com -Amazing information – re: 61 Bayeau Road, New Rochelle 10804

Little did I know that when I was researching my new (and wonderful) listing located at 61 Bayeau Road, I would come across a little snippet of information from the 1940 U.S. Census.   Yes, mom. Many of our homes did once have maids (sigh!).  This particular home has a wonderful addition featuring The Endless Pool ® which is a resistance pool, allowing the swimmer to swim at his or her own speed and ability or just have fun!
