I started ‘harvesting’ my lavender a few years ago, and each year I plant yet another lavender plant. They are hardy, bloom in July and quickly become large and quite fragrant. I then cut off the long stems, and allow them to dry before removing the seeds. I cannot lie though, I also purchase bags of lavender seeds from a herb company in San Francisco to augment my bounty as I love to give the lavender sachets (which is what I make) to all of my clients, friends and people I meet at open houses. It always feels nice to give.
New Rochelle is GREAT!
