My pooch, BINKY, is a rescue dog, and like us all, has his foibles. Binky hated walking the rain. Perhaps it was because he was found starved and near death on the streets but whatever the reason, this was his nemesis! I decided one day to write a children’s book about him, and it is currently being published! It is about facing your anxieties, and hopefully this will help a child somewhere with their small trepidations.
I thought it would be easy to have illustrated, and to organize the publishing myself, but like everything in life, it is a learning process! All good.
Hopefully, I am on the tail-end now (forgive the pun!), and it will soon be available for sale! Ha!
Every fall I love to prepare lavender sachets for my clients which they can then place into their underwear garment drawers for that heavenly fragrance! It is a hardy plant (as long as you trim back each year as I have learned as it becomes quite woody if you leave it alone.
The Shore Acres Point Club Corporation is located on a peninsular between the Guion and Otter Creeks salt water marshes in Mamaroneck. Owned by the homeowners and shareholders of approximately 200 homes in the community, there are currently annual dues of $1700. There is a new club house with its kitchen and bathroom facilities, 2 pools (one for the little ones!), mooring slips, a beach, docks (ranging from 15-45 feet0, and even options for dingys too. Racks are available for paddleboard (all at extra costs of course), but in short, the community club is very desirable.
September featured a potluck dinner on the 4th, and the clubhouse can be reserved for private events. In the past, there have been firework events, new member events, Friday food truck events. This is a wonderful area in which to reside!
I have always wanted a fig tree! Do not ask me why, but something on my personal ‘would likes’ not a ‘must have’ – life is too short, but something I always wanted! I can recall a story from a closing many years ago. The attorney stated that he had sold a home, only to find out at the closing table that the owners were taking the fig tree. The buyer stated that the fig tree was THE only reason they were purchasing the home! So ensued the monetary debate!
Figs, also known as anjeer, are so good for because they are loaded with healthy nutrients. They are a good source of vitamins including vitamins A, B1 and B2 as well as minerals like manganese, potassium, iron, calcium and phosphorus. And let us not forget they are a great source of fiber and we all know how important that is for our health.
They are good for your heart, constipation (lack thereof!), cancer prevention, healthy bones, diabetics, blood pressure, eyes and sexual dysfunction (oh my!).
To be quite honest with you, other than knowing they are healthy for you, I neve realized all of the other benefits BUT I am so glad I finally have my own tree!
My dear friend, Robert Kraft, shared his crop with me this year but he is now selling his home, and so I am so glad I now have one myself. I had planted two trees previously but they all died. This is my third and I am ecstatic that I am finally seeing some baby figs!
