The Southern Westchester Music Festival 2015

IMG_20150919_111030885If you don’t live here, then please know that Mamaroneck  is a vibrant town, located just 40 minutes or so from New York City (  there are Express trains!), and there are always community oriented events to embrace the community, making it a community.

Today was the SOWE Music Festival (Southern Westchester Musical Festival)… SO many bands/groups,  and as I passed by on my way to appointments ( I love real estate but I would have loved to have been able to pop by this event) , I could hear the great music pulsating, and seemingly playing to a  very appreciative great audience. There were great food trucks…  (of course)… Vendors ( naturally..), and there was an ever ending musical feast to appreciate…  What makes Mamaroneck great? Events just like this one!

Mamaroneck is GREAT!

Le Provencal Bistro – French Cuisine in Mamaroneck 10543

IMG_20150918_124144910So many different restaurants to choose from! When you are in the mood for French cuisine, try  a nice little restaurant in Mamaroneck called Le Provencal Bistro.

There is a very nice lunch, brunch or dinner menu to choose from, and when I was last there, I decided upon the sautéed liver with a truly delicious balsamic sauce, mashed potatoes and haricot verts with a hint of garlic.

Rons’ Trucking – A household name…

IMG_20150901_135124737If you live in the Westchester area, and you need someone who can deliver furniture from one apartment to another, or a larger moving job, or as a Realtor,  you might need those paint cans removed on the day of the closing, old furniture and junk removed – or in my case the other week, removing old carpeting from several rooms, and moving furniture to a different apart of the house. The only company that came to mind (to me) was Ron’s Trucking. The workman are always nice, courteous, hardworking, and they make the process that much easier.

IMG_20150901_135027668Ron is easy to reach, and has nine trucks, in different sizes all ready to assist. A Realtor’s dream, and a home-owners’ easy access for quick, prompt and efficient service.

Thank you to Ron and your great employees .

Great Casual Dining in Mamaroneck 10543

IMG_20150916_122644226Molly Spillane’s  isn’t just for burgers and fries! You can also buy a nice salad as I decided on the other day. I chose the Tossed Avocado & Turkey Salad, and it was quite tasty. The fresh turkey breast, avocadoes, crispy bacon, apples, dried cranberries, romaine lettuce and tomatoes was served with a light mustard vinaigrette dressing.  With the lovely seasonal weather, it was the perfect location for a light luncheon in a nice setting.IMG_20150916_124308505IMG_20150916_122734471

The Northeast Oyster Bar in Mamaroneck, New York 10543

IMG_20150909_120619133 IMG_20150909_121420200I love oysters! SO, it was just a matter of time, before I popped into Mamaroneck’s  Northeast Oyster Bar , 152 Mamaroneck Avenue, 10543 – (914) 304-3313) to sample some.. I decided on sampling 3 each of the Pickle Points,  Malpeque and Daisy Bay Oysters all from Prince Edward Island..  all delicious … The Northeast Oyster Bar is small, and the selection is  the bar, the oysters, a cheese plate but if you love oysters, and you are with good friends – what more do you need?

The Winning TEAM of Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s Larchmont 10538

IMG_20150731_142004502Every successful office and real estate  agent needs a team.  The Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s Office is blessed to have such a robust,  knowledgeable group of professionals; a support system in over drive! The current team of 7 are present in the office to offer advice, their invaluable knowledge, and always with patience, humor, and intelligence. With an office of over 50 agents, patience is especially important!

We mentioned our weekend Ambassador, Marilyn Liebenguth, in an earlier blog post for good reason, and it is now time to brag about our unbelievably talented team of weekday Ambassadors. Firstly, it is so important to have a dedicated group of Administrators, and staff. They are our creative force, creating the brochures, making them look so professional and so representative of the Sotheby’s elegant branding which the company is well known for, making appointments in a professional manner which again is representative of our brand. As Barbara Rosenblum , a top producing agent in the Larchmont office stated “our staff are second to none”.

Sandy Goldfarb is our Office Administrator, and has been with the company for  over 15 years and a real estate agent for 30 years. Sandy became a full-time office Administrator when her daughter, Jeannie went to college in 2006,  but still likes to maintain her license and list and sell for friends and clients.  Sandy has found having a license is a great asset for her job, and obviously her real estate knowledge is vast. Sandy’s sage wisdom,  her daily implementation and follow through of the detailed work is such an important and integral aspect of the office. Sandy enters all of the listings into the ‘systems’, takes care of all billing, and checks, and is constantly following up on the listings status. With so many properties being sold and rented, that is quite an undertaking, and Sandy is always there with a smile on her face to assist. Sandy has very happily lived in Larchmont for the past 28 years; fell in love with all it had to offer, especially Manor Park, Flint Park, the schools and of course the convenience to Manhattan. Larchmont is so geared for families! Sandy loves the theater  (Broadway musicals), and her grandchildren.

Angela Mascio has been with Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s for a little over a year, and yet her background speaks of years of knowledge. With an Undergraduate Degree in Graphic Design, and a Masters in Media, Angela is extremely creative  in everything she does. She enjoys the office,  the agents (who she says are all nice), and is learning a lot. I think that we, as associates are learning a lot from Angela! Imagine, she commutes form New Jersey each day just to be with us! Dedicated as well as talented. Angela is a talented photographer and her keen eye and photographic expertise has been an advantageous asset to us all. She truly enjoys working in the Larchmont area,  and her hobbies include playing on a soccer team (Co-ed and over 21), and playing Trivia!

Susan Lambrosa  has been with the company for  approximately  one and a half years, and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts. Susan also loves working in the Larchmont area, as the homes are so glorious, creating  marketing plans with the listing agents, and being creative in general . Susan particularly loves the waterfront homes, enjoys the interaction with all of the agents, and her expertise shines in whatever she does.  Her knowledge is quite invaluable and such an asset to the office. Susan loves to paint and enjoys painting with acrylic,  working out and taking long walks.

The front desk! Oh my! So representative of any office, and the demeanor displayed. Ms. Nancy Lennon has been with the company for over 25 years, and is always so concerned with follow-up and ensuring that all is okay throughout the office. Nancy has a background in real estate and used to sell homes in the area so her expertise and advice are always welcomed by all.  Nancy loves crossword puzzles, fine dining, walking in Manor Park and she lives locally.  Nancy has actually resided in three homes in the Larchmont area. That is, someone who buys larger/smaller homes but stays in the area and for good reason! Larchmont is simply a wonderful village in which to reside. Nancy has many friends in the community, and she simply loves what the area offers, and  the convenience in being so close to Manhattan.

Diana Lee Angstadt has been with the company  a year, and her professional front desk demeanor has owners and buyers alike raving about her courteous presence and follow through.  Diana graduated from Central CT State College and Merrill Business School for secretarial sciences. Diana is a cat person!  She is an avid photographer, and is well known for her photographic portraits of fine art and portraits. She has 2 web sites, and can be reached at:  www.diana-angstadt.artistwebsites.com and www.dianaleephotodesigns.com . Diana loves the happy, working environment of the Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s office.

IMG_20150731_142043255Lastly, the office is blessed to have a summer intern this year. Mr. Matt Henry. A Junior at Holy Cross, studying Economics, and now he is fast becoming a media expert also! His vast knowledge of the internet has proven invaluable to the office this summer, and Carolyn Fugere, our Manager, cannot say enough words about his creativity. Matt has been working as a volunteer to the Larchmont Chamber of Commerce (he was instrumental in creating the wonderful “Date Night Poster” which will be utilized throughout the Village on three separate occasions this summer and fall), has been advising the office associates on all aspects of SEP (Social Engine Optimization), and has been working within the office 5 days a week for a 10 week commitment.untitled

Carolyn states “I love my work family!  Super caring, beyond hard working and so talented. I thank my lucky stars everyday to be working with this team.”  Michele Wenzler, another top agent  stated “It is great being in an office where resources and experiences are shared. We are all here to support each other…and do so willingly”.

High praise to all, but as the quote goes “Praise is warming and desirable. But it is an earned thing. It has to be deserved, like a hug from a child.” Phyllis McGinley

Larchmont’s Down to Earth Farmer’s Market 2015

IMG_20150725_110505794We all see them. Those local Farmer’s Markets in each town, and what fun they are to visit.  I love to go to the market in Larchmont for the fresh pickles, sauerkraut and jardinière, always so mouth wateringly fresh .IMG_20150725_110920399

The breads, pies are also delicious.  I bought a Meredith’s Bakery fruit pie the other week and it was so delicious. The crust was crispy, not dry, and it was also unsweetened  and gluten free.  I have to admit, I do not pay attention to gluten free products or unsweetened for that matter, but with the fruit juices  utilized in naturally sweetening the pie, did give me pause for thought! It was great.

The Larchmont Farmer’s Market (Down to Earth Market) is held from May 9 – 12/19  8:30AM – 1: 00PM in the  Larchmont train station parking lot.IMG_20150725_110425869

New Rochelle BID ZERO 360 Concert, Thursday July 30th, 2015

IMG_20150730_191806358Well, I am embarrassed to admit, but I was prepared for the BID concert – but  for the wrong evening!  I called a friend (Mary Kingsley), and we arranged to meet for the concert on Wednesday. I brought some wine, cheese, fruit, nuts, etc..showed up, and wondered why there was so much parking still available. Well, I was one day too early! Oh my!

All that aside, Thursday, July 30th was the day of THE event. I was not able to attend the past concerts or dance parties as they are self described,  and  because of the rain storm yesterday, this particular and last  ‘dance party’ was held in the Ossie Davis Theater in the library of New Rochelle.free concerts

Well, it certainly did not dampen anyone’s mood!  The jubilant audience truly enjoyed the wonderful music of ZERO 360. A wonderful group, wonderful talent, and I found myself bouncing (??) in my seat.

“Zero 360 members have performed around the world with artist such as  Stevie Wonder, Melba Moore,  Dr. John, Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez, Roy Hargrove, Peter Erskine, Jack Wilkins and Ben Vereen, Chuck Jackson, Lea Roberts, Millie Jackson, Domenick Allen, Susan Anton, Charo, John Davidson, Phyllis Diller, Lorna Luft, The Platters,  The Pointer Sisters, Dion, Little Anthony & the Imperials, Gary U.S. Bonds, Sam Moore, Ben E. King, Leslie Gore, Connie Francis, and more.”

A wonderful evening,  thank you New Rochelle. Thank you BID ( Business Improvement District).
