My Sister’s Place – for the Holidays 2015

DSC05680This past May marked a wondrous, fun event,  “A Taste of Larchmont” launched and organized by the Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s Larchmont Manager, Carolyn Fugere. Over $24000 was raised for  “My Sister’s Place” , a caring and important organization.

(My Sisters’ Place strives to engage each member of society in our work to end domestic violence, so that all relationships can embrace the principles of respect, equality, and peacefulness.  We advance this mission with direct services, advocacy and community education).

My Associates in the Larchmont Julia B. Fee office all devoted a great deal of time in procuring donations from the local stores and companies, and being on hand the day of the event to be hosts and hostesses at the various restaurants and stores where people were able to taste delicious treats prepared by the local restaurants, and also the perfect time in which to place a bid on one of the silent auction items.DSC05676

One of the ‘silent’ auction prizes was a gingerbread house, to be donated by yours truly!  Jennifer Boka, a great agent in my office was the lucky winner (donating $110 to the worthwhile charity),  and so it was with great pleasure that I delivered a gingerbread house to Jennifer, and her beautiful family this week. Wishing everyone a wonderful and joyous Holidays season!

The Larchmont Tavern – Casual Dining & close to the trains..

IMG_20151023_135430833[1]Anyone living in the Larchmont/Mamaroneck area knows of the Larchmont Tavern , a local tradition since 1933. As the sites note, the family once housed 8 of 10  children in one room upstairs to the tavern, and the owner (now co-owner) fondly recalls his family’s memories from over the years.

If you have had children who played sports, then all would also know Coach Mike Chiaparelli (Chappy) who has been the bar tender at “LT’s” for over 25 years, and another happy fixture in this local gathering eatery.  As an aside, “Chappy” has led the High School Varsity Baseball team to 3 state championships in the last 8 years.. quite an accomplishment for anyone. The Larchmont Tavern has a pleasing casual menu, something for everyone, and while I popped in for a quick bite the other day, I simply chose cheeseburger, good old American fare!

The Larchmont Tavern Located at 104 Chatsworth Avenue in Larchmont Village,  914.834-9821 and it is open 7 days a week.

The 2015 Larchmont Ragamuffin Parade & Julia B. Fee Haunted House…

While Diana Schwatka read fortunes, Barbara Rosenblum and Mary Hardy listen in…

Carolyn Fugere, the Manager of the Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s Larchmont office, felt that it would be fun to entertain the parents and their young children while waiting for the Larchmont Annual Ragamuffin parade to commence. The parade was to start at 1 p.m., starting at Palmer Avenue and walking down to the Fire Department, close to the Boston Post Road.  The ‘Haunted House’ was open to the public from 11- 1 p.m.  The office brought in their various Halloween decorations, decorated the office and then dressed up in fun outfits for the event.

Le Sirene – Gourmet Pizzas and so much more in Larchmont, New York 10538

IMG_20151017_143709458It is always fun to treat yourself…. I have heard so many nice things about Le Sirene, which opened in Larchmont after a long awaited opening (8 months in renovation), on June 30th, 2015. A pretty restaurant, with romantic Italian music, the ambiance is definitely in abundance.

When I popped in for a quick luncheon, which was slightly later in the day, they IMG_20151017_145328595nevertheless served me quite graciously. I absolutely loved the pizza oven (of course a necessity), and I also appreciated the linen clad tables, and the menu.  I had heard rave reviews about the grilled Octopus, and so I declined the luncheon Prix-Fixe menu ($28 which included soup//salad, entrée and dessert), and opted for the “Polipetti teneri arrosto con pomodori brasati ”  Tender roasted baby octopus with braised cherry tomatoes, basil, pepperoncino and aged balsamic vinegar.  The octopus was quite tender indeed, had a IMG_20151017_150716393IMG_20151017_150748205delicious flavor, and was a perfect accompaniment with the salad.

It is so nice to have a range of  nice restaurants to choose from in Larchmont. Another great reason to reside there!

The Ragamuffin Parade in Larchmont – Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s Style!

IMG_20151016_154654069The children (and adults) in the Larchmont area are excitedly awaiting for tomorrow’s Ragamuffin Parade in Larchmont. It starts at 1 p.m. from Larchmont Avenue and Palmer Avenue and the little ones (and big ones) parade down the avenue to the Fire Department (with complimentary hot dogs from the Fire Department.  However, the Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s Larchmont office long ago noticed that, with so much excitement and anticipation, the children would arrive very early.. perhaps on the parents’ part to gain better parking, or simply to allow their little ones a wonderful long lasting happy event.IMG_20151016_154749856

SO,  in the hope of helping out the parents and helping to fulfill a wonderful event and long lasting memory for their children, Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s is hosting a “Haunted House” from 11:00 -1 p.m.  when the parade begins..     Hey,  as Realtors, we are all used to hosting open houses, and this one truly was both very ‘spirited’ and ‘scary’ fun. We all laughed and joked as the decorations were arranged within the office..  team spirit, with a heart, and loving the community.

IMG_20151016_160148546Pop in for a bite (I mean a ‘snap’ shot ).  Silly me… Ha ha ha……

Augie’s, a great Larchmont Restaurant is MOVING!

IMG_20151015_170648025Oh my goodness….  Augie’s, a local landmark for the past 25 years will be closing on the 22nd of October, and (hopefully) opening  by Thanksgiving  at 94 Chatsworth Avenue in Larchmont. Renovations have already begun, and they are very excited at the move.   The menu at Augie’s is vast, and all so tasty…  my sons love the Chicken Parmigiana with the Penne ( 6 portions all for $25.95) and the house salad ( huge as the Donald would say and just $9.95)IMG_20151015_170609624.

My family has enjoyed so many delicious family style meals at the restaurant these past years…  I can recall taking one of my sons there with his friends for a Birthday party, and having them choose songs from the accordion player who would be there for requests on a Saturday evening  (my son loves  aviation so his choice was “The air force song” but a different story ..).

SO many memories… all good….  an associate returned to France, and we all took her for a nice meal at the restaurant.  Augie’s-  you are just changing your location, but we will all still frequent your restaurant for great times..
